The Nashville District Corps of Engineers has an opening
for a student internship in our Structural Design Section. The intern would gain experience in large
scale civil works projects including navigation locks, dams, and hydroelectric
power plants. The intern would assist
with structural analysis, detailing, structural inspections, and construction
oversight. The intern would generally
work in an office environment in downtown Nashville, with periodic visits to
operational projects, active construction sites and fabrication
facilities. Some of the major projects
the district is currently working on include Center Hill Dam, Kentucky Lock,
Chickamauga Lock, and Sault Ste. Marie Locks.
These projects have multi-year design phases and total project costs
ranging from $50 million to $1.2 billion.
The position is available during the summer, a spring or
fall semester, or some combination. The
position will pay between $13.32 and $16.73 per hour, depending on the
applicant's qualifications.
