Your Opportunity

Our team supports both our in-house water/wastewater design teams and our public and private sector clients, offering a full range of survey services including boundary surveying, topographic mapping, construction layout, control surveys, route surveys, as-builts, bathymetric mapping and more. Stantec is a place where we measure project and career success in some of the most rewarding ways possible, and offer career opportunities as unique as you are.  The survey department is located in our Ann Arbor, MI office and supports three other Michigan Stantec offices, as well as a few other Stantec offices in neighboring states.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Produces CAD drawings on a large number of concurrent projects, to include boundary, topographic, land title surveys, tree surveys and bathymetric surveys.
  • Reviews and processes the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, volumes, and dimensions of land features.
  • Researches survey records and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries and areas to be surveyed and coordinates findings with the work of engineers, clients and others involved in projects.
  • Verifies the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Prepares data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of local survey laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Well-developed understanding of field survey methods and calculations.
  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • Excellent cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Demonstrates leadership through training, coordinating, and leading others in accomplishing work activities.
  • Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, Leica Geosystems supported software and other related software thorough understanding of CAD Standards.

Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out of town projects when needed.
