The Process Engineer will have responsibility for providing process expertise for assigned projects and within our 17 plant organization.  This hands-on role will help to support multiple plants in the identification, evaluation, and optimization of manufacturing and delivery methods.    The role will work closely with the Formulation Chemist and spend a substantial time in the asphalt plants, documenting and driving process improvement and capability. 
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and documenting production processes including notating appropriate conditions and acceptable raw material variations.
  • Evaluate and recommend design improvements to production capacity, efficiency, process safety and environmental performance.
  • Coordinate and assist in implementation of plant system changes, including equipment additions, modifications and/or deletions and process design.
  • Work with plant teams to monitor manufacturing operations, correct problems and assist in improvements.
  • Handle complex projects simultaneously while establishing priorities, time milestones and completion dates for projects.
  • Support the creation and capture of data in a SharePoint platform to enable key learnings for the business and R&D group. Document learning path to support company growth objectives. 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Process or Chemical Engineering or related science discipline. 
  • 2-4 years experience in industrial process improvement, preferably in the refinery or chemical industry preferred
  • Strong technical, quantitative analysis and process orientation skills.
  • Ability to draw, read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles desired
  • Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control and statistics.
  • Ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to effective impact product development.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as within a team setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to interact with customers and evaluate product performance at a field level.
  • Excellent innovative thinking and research ability.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be available to travel up to 80% during peak season.
