Atkins Foundations Scholarship for Minorities

The Atkins Foundation is proud to continue the tradition of offering the Atkins Foundations Scholarship for Minorities in STEM.  This scholarship is offered to Junior- and Senior-level minority students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) programs. Each semester, students submit their application and required criteria for an opportunity to receive an award.

This program not only benefits well-deserving students but also creates an opportunity for Atkins to build relationships with high potential candidates for internships and future employment opportunities. The purpose of the scholarship is to:

  • Build stronger networks with key universities to ensure Atkins is a regular name amongst
  • Help support outstanding students focusing on STEM programs pursue higher education
  • Develop a relationship with students for future employment opportunities within Atkins

Eligibility:

The Atkins Foundation Scholarship for Minorities in STEM is available to female students and students of African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American/ Native Alaskan, and Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander descent, and be:

  • A US citizen or permanent resident.
  • A junior or senior, full-time student at an accredited and approved college or university.
  • Enrolled in contiguous fall and spring semesters, carrying a minimum of 12 credits and earning a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) each semester.
  • Working towards a baccalaureate degree in science, technology, engineering or math, specifically related to disciplines within our industry with at least 60 credits of college work prior to the submission of the application. These degrees include but are not limited to:
    • Architecture
    • Civil Engineering
    • Construction Management
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Environmental Sciences
    • Geomatics
    • Landscape Architecture
    • MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) Engineering
    • Transportation Planning

Selection Process:

Scholarships of $4,000 are awarded for the fall and spring semesters to qualified students and are paid directly toward the student’s tuition.  A selection committee composed of Atkins technical leaders reviews applications, and each recipient is assigned an industry mentor.
