The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer in Lansing, Michigan.

This position functions at the entry level as an airport development engineer in the Project Management Unit of the Office of Aeronautics. The primary duties of this position include assisting various airport owners with accomplishing a variety of development projects at their airports, and performing project management duties on select airport capital improvement projects on a statewide basis. Typical projects include development of new runways, runway and taxiway extensions, airfield pavement rehabilitations, airport lighting projects, electronic navigational aid projects, terminal building and aircraft hangar developments, and assisting airport sponsors with the acquisition of specialized airport equipment. This position is responsible for the coordination and oversight of updating MDOT airport construction Standard Plans and Specifications, General Provisions, and engineering procedural documents including our Project Engineers Manual and Consultant Selection Procedures Manual. Also responsible for coordinating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and monitoring their approval process of all Modifications of Standards that our office submits for FAA approval, as well as maintaining the associated records. Another duty is to assist with special assignments as determined by the Unit Supervisor or Section Manager.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering or in civil and environmental engineering.
